Overview
A Numbered Card displays a single Measure value as a styled card. It is the standard chart type for KPIs and headline metrics on a Dashboard that displays a single number that needs to be read at a glance against surrounding charts. Unlike axis-based charts (Bar, Line, Area), the Numbered Card’s Properties tab is dominated by styling controls for two zones (the header and the content) plus an optional image. The Columns tab inherits from Bar Chart.
Numbered Cards are authored from Lens → Design → Chart Designer → Visualization → Numbered Card. This page documents the Numbered Card’s Properties surface in full; the Columns surface is shared with the Bar Chart and cross-referenced.
When to use it
- Headline KPIs at the top of a Dashboard — total revenue, total users, active accounts.
- Single-value metrics that need to stand out visually from other charts.
- Custom-formatted output combining a Measure value with HTML — units, prefixes, conditional styling, inline icons.
- Branded display cards combining a metric with a logo or product image.
Properties tab — Numbered Card–specific settings
Enable HTML in Custom Text
Toggle that controls whether the card’s content is rendered as plain text or as HTML.
| Enable HTML | Toggle. When on, the Custom Text field is treated as HTML markup and rendered accordingly. When off, content is plain text. |
| Custom Text | Free-form text or HTML markup that renders as the card’s content. |
Customization
Styling controls for the card’s header zone, content zone, and overall layout.
| Layout | Content orientation. Margin (spacing around the content area). |
| Header styling | Header Font Size, Header Font Style, Header Font Weight, Header Opacity, Card Header Color. |
| Content styling | Content Font Size, Content Font Style, Card Content Color. |
| Content positioning | Content Horizontal Position, Content Vertical Position (where the value sits within the card). |
| Background | Background dropdown with theme options. Selecting Transparent inherits the surrounding background (Dashboard, Report). |
Image
An optional image rendered on the card alongside the value (for example, a product icon, a brand mark, or a category indicator).
| Image (toggle) | Enable an image on the card. When off, the image fields are hidden. |
| Image source | Upload the image or pick from the ones available. |
| Image Horizontal Position | Left/right placement of the image within the card. |
| Image Vertical Position | Top/bottom placement of the image. |
| Image Width | Image rendering width. |
| Image Height | Image rendering height. |
| Horizontal Move | Fine-grain horizontal positional offset. |
| Vertical Move | Fine-grain vertical positional offset. |
Columns tab — inherited from Bar Chart
Per-column settings on the Numbered Card are identical to the Bar Chart. The Numbered Card article does not re-document those settings.
| Columns tab | Header, Display Name, Content Properties, Sorting & Filter, Image (per-column, distinct from the Numbered Card–level image), Tooltip Options, Type, Drilldown, Aggregate, Gradient, Label Rotation & more. | Bar Chart PD → Columns tab |
Key behaviors
Single-Measure display. A Numbered Card shows one Measure value as its content. It does not render bars, lines, or wedges, just a value, styled. The Card’s purpose is to make one number stand out, not to compare multiple values.
Two-zone layout: header and content. The card is structured as a header zone (the metric name or title) and a content zone (the value). Most styling controls are paired — Header Font Size and Content Font Size, Card Header Color and Card Content Color — reflecting this two-zone structure.
Image is independent of HTML. The Image toggle and its positioning fields are independent of the HTML and Custom Text settings. A Card can have an HTML-rendered value with no image, an image with a plain-text value, or both. The image renders on the card alongside the content based on its position fields.
Transparent background inherits surroundings. Setting Background to Transparent removes the card’s own background fill and lets the surrounding Dashboard or Report background show through. Useful when the card sits on a styled Dashboard where the card should blend in visually.
Designed for Dashboard placement. Numbered Cards are most commonly placed at the top of a Dashboard as headline KPIs, alongside other Cards or above the main chart grid. Sizing, positioning, and styling are tuned for compact display rather than the wider canvas of axis-based charts.
