Before you begin
You need the Lens Designer role to create charts. If you do not see the Chart Designer option in the Lens module, ask your Account Admin to assign you the correct role.
Before creating a chart, make sure you have a custom script already defined in your workspace. Custom scripts provide the dimensions and measures that power your chart. If you have not created one yet, see How to use custom scripts in the related links below.
Steps
Open the Chart Designer
From the Lens module, click Chart Designer in the left-hand navigation. The designer canvas opens with an empty chart area and the configuration panel on the right.
Select your custom script
In the configuration panel, open the Data source dropdown and choose the custom script you want to use. The available dimensions and measures from that script appear in the field list below.
Choose a chart type
Click the Chart type selector at the top of the configuration panel. Pick from the available types such as bar, line, pie, area, scatter, or combo chart. The canvas updates to show a preview placeholder for the selected type.
Drag dimensions and measures
From the field list, drag one or more dimensions to the category axis (for example, the X-axis on a bar chart) and one or more measures to the value axis (the Y-axis). The chart preview updates in real time as you add fields. You can also drag a dimension to the Legend shelf to create grouped or stacked series.
Customize appearance
Use the Format tab to adjust colours, labels, axis titles, legends, and tooltips. You can set number formatting on measure values, toggle data labels on or off, and configure sort order. The preview reflects every change immediately.
Save the chart
Click Save in the top-right corner. Give the chart a descriptive name and optionally assign it to a folder. The saved chart is now available for embedding in dashboards or sharing with other users in your workspace.
