Getting started on Datanyx Cloud
This guide walks new cloud customers through the first week on Datanyx — from your first login to your team being productive.
~10 min read | For: New cloud customers, typically the first admin
Your first login
After your purchase, Datanyx sends a welcome email with a link to your workspace. At first login, you’ll be asked to name your organization — this becomes the top-level container for your team’s work. The first user is automatically made Account Admin.
You can rename the org later. The name is just a label — changing it doesn’t affect anything else.
Understanding the five roles
Before inviting your team, it’s worth knowing what roles exist in Datanyx. Each user holds one or more, and they control what menus and actions the user can see.
Account Admin
Manages users, roles, datasources, and security tags.
Lens Designer
Builds dashboards, reports, and custom scripts.
Weave Designer
Builds ETL and ML pipelines with node-based workflows.
Maskbits Designer
Designs masking rules for PII, PHI, and FTI data.
Viewer
Consumes shared dashboards in read-only mode — with filters, drilldowns, exports, and scheduling.
One user, many roles. Roles combine additively — if any role grants access, the user sees it.
Inviting your team
Step 1 — Go to Admin › Users
Open the Admin menu and select Users.
Step 2 — Add each team member with the right role
Start with 1–2 people per Designer role, plus another Admin as backup.
Step 3 — Consider groups if you have more than 10 users
Groups let you assign roles and share content to many people at once.
Connecting your data
Datanyx needs at least one datasource before anyone can build anything. Supported sources include Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Salesforce, JIRA, Excel, CSV, and flat files.
Your first week
Day 1 — Invite key users, assign roles
Get your Designers and backup Admin in. Viewers can wait.
Day 2–3 — Connect your first datasource
Pick a small, well-governed dataset to start with.
Day 4–7 — Let Designers start building
Point them at the Quickstarts. Each takes 15–25 minutes.
